The school integrates communities and their dance cultures and encourages a growth in positive social interaction on Spike Island as the public become a part of the school, enjoying the communal spaces and peeking into the dance spaces.
The timber responds to the immediate context where there are many timber accents and façades
The Multi-Cultural Dance School celebrates and teaches dances from all around the world bringing all of Bristol's communities together and encouraging celebration and integration.
The courtyard provides a public square for practice, performances and events; spilling the classes out onto the streets.
The open plan design of the dance spaces inside the school as well as openness of the building’s envelop allows for plenty of communication between classes and the public.
