Accessible + Inclusive Door Handle

"The Door Handle is the Handshake of the Building"

- Juhani Pallasmaa

This prototype door handle was designed for those suffering with Rheumatoid Arthritis, wheelchair users and most other disabilities that limited mobility.

How it Works

A glass paneled door allows for visibility in and out of the home. This discourages accidents when opening a door into a home.

The handle can be used in a number of ways from above and below or both. Arms, hands and fingers can each be used to open the door.

A larger than usual lock can be used with the knuckles of the hands to ease the process oflocking the door.
